<p>Nonostante le temperature polari (dai meno 18 di Mosca agli oltre meno 30 di molte zone siberiane), decine di migliaia di ortodossi - <strong>da Belgrado a Mosca, da Gerico a Kiev, dal Kyrgyzstan al Montenegro</strong> - hanno partecipato al rituale che, per celebrare l&#8217;<strong>Epifania</strong>, prevede di tuffarsi per tre volte (nel nome del Padre, del Figlio e dello Spirito Santo) nell&#8217;acqua gelida.<br />
La chiesa ortodossa ricorda così il battesimo di Cristo nel fiume Giordano secondo il calendario giuliano, in ritardo di 13 giorni rispetto a quello gregoriano.<br />
<strong>Nella piazza della Rivoluzione</strong>, a due passi dal Cremlino e dalla piazza Rossa, sono stati allestite postazioni apposite, per consentire ai passanti di compiere il rito nel cuore della capitale, sotto gli occhi di turisti attoniti. <strong>Nella sola Mosca</strong>, secondo il ministero delle situazioni di emergenza, <strong>sono attesi circa 65 mila fedeli </strong>pronti ad immergersi nei numerosi luoghi predisposti, con la presenza di ambulanze, soccorritori e polizia per eventuali incidenti.<br />
