Elizabeth Fedoseenko, aged 7, is dunked into a tub filled with Jordan River water by a Russian Orthodox priest during Christian Orthodox Epiphany celebrations in Kasser el-Yahud, outside the West Bank town of Jericho, on 18 January 2010, believed to be the place where traditional says John the Baptist baptised Jesus Christ. Thousands of Orthodox Christian pilgrims were bussed into the site for religious celebrations but in recent years have been prohibited by Israeli authorities from entering the Jordan River waters. This girl and her three-year-old sister, Margarita, came with their parents from Mosco on a religious pilgrimage to the Holy Land and arranged for a full baptism ceremony.
