Amateur photographers take photos of the Tokyo Sky Tree tower under construction in Tokyo, Japan, 30 March 2010. The Sky Tree tower, being built by Tobu Railway Co., became Japan’s tallest structure at 338 metres on 29 March 2010. The tower in downtown Tokyo will be one of the world‘s tallest. It surpassed the height of Tokyo Tower, a 333-metre radio and television transmission tower in the capital. The Sky Tree is scheduled to reach 634 metres when construction is completed at the end of 2011. It is already attracting tourists well before its official opening scheduled for the spring of 2012. Tokyo Tower, which had been Japan‘s tallest building for 52 years, was one of the major symbols of the nation‘s postwar rise.
