Mekong River Commission summit

The first ever Mekong River Commission summit to discuss the low water levels in the Mekong starts 02 April 2010 in Hua Hin, Thailand. The four day summit draws leaders from Cambodia, Laos, Thailand and Vietnam to discuss and safeguard the future of the 4,000 km long Mekong River which runs through China, Myanmar, Laos, Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam. Levels of the Mekong River are said to be at its lowest in 50 years, with three Chinese dams upstream and a long-running drought blamed. China will send delegates to attend the meeting.
