Portuguese police, background, watch as several forcados of the Evora group try to catch a bull during a traditional Portuguese bullfight on Sunday night, June 27, 2010, in Evora, Portugal. The forcados are a group of eight men who perform the “pega de cara” or “face catch,” in which they challenge a fighting bull bare-handed. The first forcado calls the bull into charge, and when the bull is running towards him, he jumps onto the bull’s head. The final purpose is to subdue the bull. Unlike bullfights in other countries, the bull in Portugal is not killed in the bullring.
