Werner Rhode of Richmond, Maine, digs for bloodworms at low tide on the Harraseeket River, Thursday, Aug. 12, 2010, in Freeport, Maine. Rhode sells his catch to a dealer for 25 cents per worm. The worms are then shipped as far away as the Mediterranean Sea, where they are used as fish bait.
