A human eye looks through a leaf of a stinging nettle that was damaged by insects, wind and weather at the edge of a meadow on the Lohrberg in Frankfurt at the Main, Germany, 18 August 2010. The plants are not very popular, because of nettle hairs, that sting by contact. Yet, the young sprouts are suitable for making salads and for cooking. They cary many minerals, vitamines and protein. Seeds and roots of the stinging nettle are also edible.
