A Palestinian member of Hamas security holds a poster of Italian activist Vittorio Arrigoni before his coffin was removed from al-Shifa hospital in Gaza City on 18 April 2011. The body of the pro-Palestinian Italian activist Vittorio Arrigoni transported through the Rafah crossing to Egypt and then to Italy. Reports state that Hamas, the group which rules the Gaza Strip, discovered the body of the pro-Palestinian Italian activist on 15 April, who was allegedly killed by a group known as the Salafists.
