Fireworks light the sky behind a statue of Alexander the Great that was officially unveiled today under the name Warrior on a Horse in celebration of the 20th anniversary of independence happening at Macedonia Square, the central square in Skopje, the capital of the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM) on 08 September 2011. The statue made in bronze, is 12.5 meters high, standing on a 10 meter flowing fountain pedestal. The installation of the sculpture on the square is part of a cultural project called ‘Skopje 2014′.
