Marea nera, l’incubo in Nuova Zelanda
Circa 250 persone sono impegnate nelle operazioni di pompaggio, di raccolta e contenimento del petrolio riversatosi in mare
A handout picture provided by Maritime New Zealand shows an aerial view of stranded cargo vessel Rena grounded on the Astrolabe Reef near Tauranga Harbour, New Zealand, on 08 October, 2011. Salvage experts worked to stabilize a loaded container ship stranded on a reef off New Zealand as heavy fuel oil leaked into the sea and forecasters warned of worsening weather.
Transport Minister Steven Joyce said a new patch of fresh oil had been sighted on the surface after an earlier observation flight indicated leaks from the 47,000-ton Rena had stopped. Officials estimated that 10 tons of oil had leaked from the vessel stuck on a reef 22 kilometres off Tauranga since 05 October.
